Decision Time

My marathon training has not been going as well as I had hoped.
The heat and humidity in the mornings has just been killing me.

So I had to make a choice
Keep pushing
and run the marathon just to run it and say that I did it

OR
Run the Savannah half marathon (instead of the full)
and try a full marathon when the weather is cooler
and I can try for an actual time
instead of just trying to complete it

I decided on the latter

So
it looks like I'll be running my 4th 1/2 marathon
I'm totally good with this decision.

After getting worked at the last Rock n' Roll half
I really want to focus at getting faster.

And that, my friends is your running update report.

Did you get your Baby Back?

Did everyone go to Chili's today for dinner?

Every year, Chili's donates 100% of their profits to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

It's a wonderful cause and good food to boot!
Ok- truthfully- since I've stopped eating meat Chili's doesn't have a whole lot for me to choose from. BUT I do love St. Jude and try to make it to this event every year.

Poop Cab

Last Weekend Abbie and I took a trip to Charlotte
I fell in love with the city.

So clean and so pretty.

We enjoyed all the great restaurants Charlotte has to offer

Including this super cute place called Cowfish

Where you can get Sushi and Burgers or Both
Abbie's Lunch Box

My Portobello Burger .... LOADED

We also hit up a couple of the bars

And no trip wouldn't be complete without some sort of sightseeing tour
We took a carriage this time

(AKA - our Poop Cab)

New Kicks

Isn't it amazing how a new pair of shoes is always exciting?
Makes me feel like a kid again every time.

My old shoes put in their time

and carried me through the
and the

This time I went with Brooks

They say that it is all about the shoes when running
and these shoes did not disappoint
Check out these features

The silver design around the shoes are made from actual lightening bolts for faster running.

The lovely turquoise shoe laces are motion activated motivators
that whisper positive running mantras to my feet while on the go

The soles of the shoes are made of a new high quality magnet that repels both concrete and asphalt so that legs are constantly on the go.

I can't wait to see where these babies are going to take me!

Got no meaning- just a rhyme

While I was in VA
I was also able to live a dream of 13 year old Ashley

I got to see Stone Temple Pilots in concert on the beach

I LOVED them when I was younger
Core was one of my favorite CDs

They played all of their old stuff
and only a few of the new-
which is good- because it made for a good bathroom break

We missed the Brett Michaels concert that was after the race
but seeing STP totally makes up for it.

Rock- Drop- N- Roll

I just returned from my 3rd Half Marathon

It wasn't a good one for me
in short
this. race. sucked.
or rather
I sucked.
(so much optimism before the race...)

I'm not sure what happened really
for the 1st two miles I definitely ran too fast
but overall I just felt yucky the whole way

Plus I think all my training in the extreme heat
left me with no clue as to what my goal should be
I literally decided the night before what my race goal would be

But
I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about it
and I definitely feel better that I felt after that race

Besides
the trip was not wasted because I got to see this guy

I mean
how sweet is this face?

(this is my favorite picture of him - in the scooter outfit I bought)

and I had much love from these guys

(I love this little dog)

Big thanks to my bro for running with me the whole way
and for pushing me
