Sunday Funday

Weekend Recap:

While cleaning the house may not seem like the most fun in the world
I was so happy to finally have our place spotless again.

Abbie and I hadn't lifted a finger to clean in about 2 weeks.
gross.
i know.
what can I say?

So while I worked on the house
Abbie was off kicking ass at a golf tournament.

Afterwards we celebrated with some Italian
bad-but-oh-so-good food

Then we hit up a local carnival
listened to some music

Went on the Himalaya
(which was pretty brave after eating all that food with 2 glasses of wine)
(how's that for an action shot?)

and ended the night on the Ferris Wheel

 It was a perfect day.

Winning Like Sheen

I'm probably the worse blogger out there

4 days later...
Here is my Disney 1/2 Marathon Recap

(Like the horrible blogger I am
I didn't take any pictures
and I am relying on my friend's photos instead)
more photos to come...

Let me start by saying...

I ROCKED THIS RACE!
Posing with my Gu Chomps

I have never felt so good running in my life.
The weather was perfect.
I was hydrated.
fueled.
pumped.

We had to sleep at 6:00pm the night before
to be up at 2:00am and at the race by 3:00am

Trying to sleep at 6pm at a Disney hotel
with screaming kids outside- is tough.

At the race adrenaline kicked in and we were all awake.
Each Corral had fireworks go off before running- which was exciting.

13,000 runners

There were so many people in costumes that it kept my mind busy during the race.

I think there were a lot of first timers at this race- or just a bunch of people that just wanted pictures with the characters, ect. - because I felt like I was dodging walkers the entire time.
I actually think I would have had a better finish time had I not spent so much time zig zagging the course.

I wasn't a big fan of the course- most of it was on the highway
the music was uninspiring Disney tunes
(try running to A Whole New World)

I finished at 2:16
my goal was 2:15 so it was a little disheartening coming up a minute short

Also, I had started my Garmin too soon during the race
and actually thought I had came in under 2:15

Despite that- I really feel good about my run. My 2nd goal for this race was to run completely through without stopping- which I did.

I'm so happy with the way I ran and how I felt that
I have decided to do yet another half this year
and have a new goal of 2:00!

Tomorrow I head up to
The Happiest Place on Earth!

I LOVE Disney World.
Love it.

When I was a kid my dad worked there for a bit and he would let my brother and I roam the park.
(awesome, right?)

I don't want to brag-
But I personally know both Mickey and Minnie Mouse

and thanks to my connections
I can usually get into the park at no charge
(ballin', right?)

I try to go to Disney at least once a year
(more if I can get away with it)

but this will be the first time I will be able to RUN through it.

I. AM. PUMPED!

2:15 here I come!

Facon

I found a recipe
to make fake bacon

To my surprise Publix already had some
I love every opportunity to be lazy so I picked some up.

Abbie tried a FLT
and I added mine to a salad
it was great- tasted just like bacon bits

the texture obviously is different but it did the trick
(for me anyway- not sure how Abbie feels about it)

I surprisingly have not missed bacon
the one thing that I thought I would miss the most

then again..
I haven't smelled real bacon in a long long time

Training to be a Princess

One more week to go before the Princess Half Marathon at Disney!

I haven't been training like I should
so yesterday I ran 12 miles
just so I could be 100% confident that I can complete this race.

This was actually the first long run I've done without feeling like complete crap afterwards.
I even had time to hang out with my a fellow "princess in training".

I am concerned that I won't meet my time goal of 2:15
(because I have yet to keep the pace in my long runs)
But I'm hopeful my adrenaline will kick in and get me closer to my goal.

BTW- I just want to say that a "runners high" is a complete myth.

I've been trying to stay focused on completing this goal- but secretly I cannot WAIT to switch up my workout routine and work on non running activities.
