Baby Girl

I voted today...
did you?

I stood in line for 45 minutes
in conversation with a terrible woman
who didn't even consider that I might not be voting for the same person she was
(I wasn't)
and she proceeded to vomit out a litany of terrible rubbish.
I wonder which one of us will be happy with the results of the vote tonight.

Today is not only
election day
but it also the birthday of my sweet baby girl

who is now 7 years old.

I love her more than anything in this world
and I am so grateful to have her in my life.

Bunkie Love

I know someone who is glad Abbie is out of town

Bunkie has been sleeping next to me every night

and it also looks like she has been jumping on the bed while I am at work too
which I should be mad about....

but she's my baby.

Archibald Dupree

Ode to Archibald Dupree

Little Archibald Dupree
Loves to piss on grass and trees

Streaming out from far and wide
shootin' lizards in the eye

Jumping to a 3 point stance
he waters lawns... showers ants

At full tank or just a drop
Archie ALWAYS marks his spot!

Dog Olympics

If there were an Olympics for dogs
mine would win gold
in synchronized pooping...
with perfect deuce deuces

I love the fact that the Olympics has given
me an excuse to wear these sunglasses every night.

Happy 4th of July

Got up this morning
for a Firecracker 5k race with Anna

It felt great getting up early and getting a workout out of the way on a holiday

Then I met up with her family for our town's 4th of July parade
so much fun being around kids for the holiday

and tonight I am home bound
acting at the protector for my very
fireworks adverse pup

Happy 4th everyone!

Look who's back...

Baby girl is back in the hizzy for shizzy!
She still has to heal a bit... but the important thing is that she is home for good!
I've missed her so much. The house has been empty without her.

(thanks mom for taking care of her!)

Selfish

With Abbie out of town
I realize how selfish I really am.
Because I am beyond happy that I get to have this broccoli pie
all to my self

In fact, I made two
lunch and dinner
for two nights in a row
for me and only me

and then I cracked open a puzzle
because I LOVE the idea of putting it together on my own.

(... perhaps this blog should be titled Loser instead of selfish)

Archie is enjoying his alone time as well
since Bunks is at my mom's
he's letting it all hang out.

on to the next one

This weekend I picked up Miss Bunkie from the vets
She had surgery on her second leg

I feel like we are almost there
and I can finally have my dog back!

Before picking her up my mom checked out this shabby chic show
It made me wish I were more creative...

Time to hit up Michaels.

Bunkie Update

It has been about a month now
since Bunkie had surgery on her little doggy ACL

(seriously- how gross is this?)

So far she seems to be ok
You can see that her other leg is hurting her
(as it needs surgery too)
and she's got this new funky fur cut

But it is soooooo nice to have everyone home again
I love my babies.

shame on you!

Shame on any reader that didn't comment on yesterday's post.

THESE aren't my babies

THESE are my babies

I gotta keep you guys on your toes, so during 2012 there will be quizzes.

for those of you that caught this one- you get an A!

Bunks in the Trunks

While we were gone
my mom
(who is the best mom in world BTW)
agreed to watch our fur babies for us

Unfortunately
Bunkie has torn both of her ACL's
leaving my mom stuck with vet appointments and added stress

I took her to the vet when we got back
and they said that she has to build up her hind leg muscles
(which have completely deteriorated)
before they do surgery
(this is an actual picture I took at the vets- she loves all the smells and people)

It breaks my heart that
Since my place has a lot of stairs
I have to leave her at my mom's

It breaks my heart that
she can barely move and every time I see her "walk" tears fill my eyes

It breaks my heart that
there is a large possibility that she may never get better

and it breaks my heart that the vet offer little to no support or solutions.

So
if there is anyone out there
who has been in a situation similar to this
and your dog ended up living happily ever after- I beg you to share your story

(however if you have a sad ending story about your dog- please don't share)

Archie the Farting Dog

Today while I was walking Archie
a lady pulled up next to me and asked if I have heard of the book:

Walter the Farting Dog
She said that Archie reminds her of him:

How funny is that? I definitely see the resemblance.

Training update:

Today I had a 3 mile run
(I've had 3 mile runs all week)

It.was.so.hard.
It's so incredibly frustrating to me.

I can say that I do enjoy running in the morning.
I just need to tweak my morning meal (Ezekiel is too heavy) and learn to deal with this humidity.

I did make this great smoothie today to cool down after my run :

(damn blogger flips my photos!)

1 cup green tea
1 peach
1/2 banana
ice
loaded.

Dirty Dogs

Today my neighbor asked me if I knew a good groomer in the area

Are you kidding?

Our little maniacs are the josiest dirt balls you'll ever meet.

and I love them

over the river and through the woods...

to grandmother's house we go!

This was Archie's first family road trip

At "grandmas" he got to enjoy the great outdoors
rolled in the dirt
chased a squirrel
and wore his little tail out

and at "grandpas" he met the biggest "dogs" he's ever seen

and enjoyed food on the floor courtesy of my adorable nieces
(aka- my shadows for the night)

My first Turkey-less Thanksgiving was wonderful
my stepmother was nice enough to cook a meatless lasagna for me
(my plate)

but I passed on the "see" food

We got home yesterday afternoon and have spent the rest of the time
recovering from overeating and over drinking.

This week we will be decorating our home for Christmas!
