Its beginning to look a lot like... work

How am I supposed to be in the Christmas spirit if I have to work?! This time last year I was here:

This year I am here:

Sad, no?

I do think I will be leaving early though **fingers crossed** . Abbie and I have a 5k to do today- We've named it the Abbley 5k. (some call us losers but we call it fun).  I'm actually not that excited for the run- I ran 2 miles with Bunks last night and it was murder. But I'm hellbent on being a runner- so IT'S ON!

I also made this purchase last night:

See my blog roll peeps? Not only do I read - but I obey.

***more to come!***

Running Update- Just finished the Abbley 5k run.

Bottom line... my bottom is out of shape! But I finished it- and that was all I wanted to do. I think overall my mental game gets to me more than being out of shape. I never know what to think about while I am running so then my thoughts just turn to how much I hate to run. If anyone has any thoughts/advice/stories on how to get past this I would appreciate some feedback!

Shame Shame

NherShoes has declared to "Finish Strong" for the new year. Meaning working out hard and eating healthy. I was all on board for about 3 days (Spin, Run, Run, Intervals- yeah!) then someone put a huge plate of cookies in our office

Then I had to make some goodies (top secret) for my peeps for Christmas- and may or may not have eaten at least one of every batch.

And yesterday (and probably today) I just had too many holiday things to do so I skipped the gym.

Let's face it folks - I've completely fallen off the fitness/health wagon

And the little devil on my shoulder says- no SCREAMS- "take the rest of the year off and just have fun."   oh. so. tempting.

What will I decide?  Who knows. But I can tell you that having to write this "failure" for all to see is extremely motivating- makes me at least want to eat a carrot or something.
*******************************************
In an unrelated rant- the other day someone on FaceBook wrote "Heading to the gym- I need to lose this weight ASAP!"

Is it me- or is that like the nuttiest thing a girl can write? Okay, maybe not the nuttiest- but annoying none the less. Forget Fat Talk- that was like a Fat Announcement! I should send her the link to Operation Beautiful.

Okay- here are my sad, sad Eats:

  • bfast-  ww arnold thins with 1 egg
  • snack #1- biscotti with coffee
  • lunch- ww bread with turkey and mayo- yes mayo
    • chips - yes chips
    • soda- i know, i know
  • Dinner- Organic Black Bean Soup with a handful of Organic Corn Chips
    • Baileys
  • Fruit/Veggie count- I'm not even going there...
Maybe I'll get that carrot in...

**********************************************************
Update- I ended up going home and downloading a Free yoga podcast from Hillarysyogapractice.wordpress.com

At the time I didn't feel like I was getting much of a workout- but today my buns are burning (TWSS). It did help me calm down and distress. Exactly what I needed.

Lazy lazy lazy Jane

Everyday about this time - 3:50pm - I have this thought:

Who cares if I don't go to the gym? I can be perfectly happy laying in bed eating cookies and watching TV for the rest of my life...

I call it the "before the gym dread" I think it is mostly due to the fact that my day is winding down from work and I really just want some chill time to relax.

No worries though- I know better.

More blog to come!

*****************************************************************************
So I dragged my butt to the gym. Great, great, great class- so glad that I went to spin. I LOVE spin. I love that the room is dark and I can just fall into the music.

I think they should have the whole gym like that.... hmmmm... maybe I'll start one.... and call it Club Gym. All the lights will be low and loud fast paced music would be bumpin'.  Of course we'll leave a lit section by the free weights for all the meat heads to look at themselves while flexing. (seriously how hilarous is that to see at a gym? Boys have no shame- you NEVER see girls flexing their muscles in the gym in front of everyone)

today's eats:

  • bfast- 2 egg whites cooked with oats, topped with 1/2 banana and almond butter
  • Snack #1- organic popcorn with sea salt
  • Lunch- Flatout spinach wrap with cuke, avocado, sprouts and hummus
  • Snack #2- apple
  • Dinner- homemade pizza- wheat crust, tomato sauce, cheese, mushrooms and peppers (loaded!)
  • Dessert- cupcake
  • Fruit/Veggie Count- 5

Cookie time!

The chilly weather this weekend was PERFECT for putting up our tree and Christmas decorations- it was as close to a "winter" as I am going to get living in the sunshine state.

I love santa ornaments so every year my mother buys me the cutest ones during the after Christmas sales and wraps them up for me the following year. Here are a few of my favs.

I love, love, love decorating the tree.

I also decided to bake this weekend. Usually my idea of baking is purchasing cookie dough and throwing it in the oven. (think: Cher when she bakes for her date)

This weekend I decided to follow an actual recipe. Now, I know cookies are not the healthiest things to eat- but it wasn't until I actually saw each and every ingredient that goes in that oh-so-delicious cookie dough I purchase, that I realized just how bad for you they are! We are talking 2 STICKS OF BUTTER PEOPLE! 2! and both regular sugar and brown sugar. It was an eye opener for sure! Now that I have about 5 dozen of these diet crashers - I'm going to pawn them off on other people as gifts. heads up suckas!

Fattening or not, I had a lot of fun baking (and eating- lets be honest here) them.

Today's blog is dedicated to Mr. Tim Tebow- No need to cry. We love ya baby!

Talk to the Moose- Moose! ah ah ah ah Moose!

How much do you love this commercial?

It makes me want to have a gaggle of girls. That I can dress up in these cute little winter clothes.

I'm driving Abbie crazy though by singing "Moose! ah ah ah Moose!" as well as deeming Bunkie's new name as "Moose" for the rest of the year.

Moose! ah ah ah ah Moose!

So the fitness schedule has been made:

Monday- Spin Class (I wish I could do more but the classes do not fit my schedule)

Wednesday- Running
Thursday- Total Body workout with free weights and stability ball- found on fitnessmagazine.com

Saturday- Running
Sunday- Yoga at home

Ta-da! I hope I see some big results from this.

Working on my Fit-ness

It seems like yesterday was the day for goals out in blog world! I was inspired enough to create some on my own. Unfortunately I ran out of time yesterday (how does that keep happening?) so i wasn't able to completely make out my new fitness routine- but after some thought- I've come up with the following goals for December:

  • No more weight machines at the gym - I have been using the same weight machines since college. I think i fall back on them because I know what to set them on and how to use them. I am sure my body is tired of this- so for this month I am doing free weights, stability balls, kettles, bands and more instead.

  • Running- I've tried to run over and over again. I want so badly to be a runner so this month I am going to try again. Abbie and I are going to find a 5k to run in this month to help with motivation.

  • Spinning- I  LOVE spin class- not sure why I haven't been in awhile- so I'll be starting that again.
  • Home workouts- I want to incorporate 1-2 home workouts a week (I love being home). I'm going to do some research on popular yoga DVDs (I hate the ones I have) and I also want to get a stability ball workout video to learn more moves and just to do something different.

So now I hope to get to an actual schedule written out - as in a calendar.

Looks like I'll be searching fitness sites tonight for new workouts!
